Based on an idea of President Vicky Mantegazza, the Youth Section ofHockey Club Lugano organized on Monday, Oct. 17, at the Trevano Study Center a special evening enriched by the presence of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Alessandro Chiesa dedicated to all the players of the U20, U17, U15 and U13 teams, as well as to all the coaches, from the nursery bianconero.
Moderated by journalist Stefano Ferrando, the event traced the careers of Stephan and Alessandro from their childhood to the decisive years of choosing to become an elite sportsman in order to highlight and share their values (passion, determination, discipline, sacrifice, coordination with the world of schooling, management of body and mind, the famous Plan B in case of failure) that must accompany a girl or boy who intends to walk the path of professionalism in sports.
The two hundred or so attendees of the evening were thus able to appreciate the sincerity, but also the quick wit, of two true champions who have always been able to enthuse fans with their dedication and enthusiasm: Stephan Lichtsteiner, seven-time consecutive Italian champion with Juventus and the third-most appearances (108) player ever on the Swiss national soccer team, and Alessandro Chiesa, player ofHockey Club Lugano for thirteen seasons and Swiss champion in 2006.
Numerous questions were asked by a very attentive audience that certainly absorbed the messages of the two champions, aimed, for example, at knowing how to handle a triumph but also a searing defeat, what is the fine line between having fun on the field and the pressure of the internal and external environment, or the credibility of the captain's figure within the locker room and toward public opinion.
