TheHockey Club Lugano announces that it has signed a contract for the next three seasons (2024/2027) with the 26-year-old goalkeeper Joren Van Pottelberghe (85 kg x 187 cm), born on 05.07.1997 a Zug and in possession of dual Swiss and Belgian passports.
Raised in the nursery ofZug until the age of sixteen, Van Pottelberghe continued his education in the south of Sweden, playing from 2013 to 2016 in the U18 and U20 teams of Linköping.
Returning to Switzerland, from 2016 to 2020, he defended the Davos cage at National League (66 matches) and of Kloten in the Swiss League (26 games).
He was then targeted by Biel. with whom he signed a three-year agreement that expires at the end of the current season. With the Seeländer Van Pottelberghe he took to the track 102 times, contributing tothe excellent results of the team in recent years, despite a serious injury that tkept him off the ice from March 2022 to January 2023. In the current championship he is alternating with Finland's Harri Säteri.
With the Swiss national team Van Pottelberghe has been regularly selected at the youth level, playing one U18 World Cup and two MondialiU20, competitions that earned him in 2015 the fourth-round draft pick by the Detroit Red Wings.
With Patrick Fischer's top representative has instead played a dozen friendly matches and one competition at the 2023 World Cup in Riga.

Mikko knows the mechanisms of the market in Switzerland and understood our need to plan far enough in advance. He will continue to play an important role in the team this season."
