TheHockey Club Lugano is preparing to welcome at Cornèr Arena the eighth member dn the his Hall of Fame.
After Alfio Molina, Bernard Côté, Bruno Rogger, Silvano Corti, Andy Ton, Fredy Lüthi and Glen Metropolit, the time has come to celebrate a character who, with his will to win always, his perfectionism and leadership has risen in the world bianconero to an icon of the perfect coach.
We are, of course, talking about John Slettvoll, the charismatic technician, now 79 years old,scouted by Geo Mantegazza in northern Sweden and landed in Lugano in the summer of 1983. With a clear line and consistency in the management of his men, John Slettvoll shaped the Great Lugano that enchanted Swiss field hockey in the second half of the 1980s. With the new playoffs formula he guided the bianconeri to six finals consecutive between 1986 and 1991, winning four national titles.
