Hockey Club Lugano announces that it has signed Swiss-licensed Finnish forward Aleksi Peltonen, who was released in these hours from his contract with Davos, on an agreement valid until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Aleksi, born 08.06.1998 in Helsinki (178 cm x 81 kg, "left"), is the twin brother of defenseman bianconero Jesper, son of Ville Peltonen, captain of the 2006 title and grandson of Finnish field hockey legend Esa Peltonen.
Raised like his twin in IFK Helsinki, he soon left the "nest," spending as many as nine seasons in North America between 2014 and 2023.
First at Northwood School, a high school in Lake Placid that prepares for college, then in the youth leagues of the USHL and NAHL, and finally for four years at St. Lawrence University in upstate New York (108 games, 41 points) where in 2021 he won the NCAA college title and in the 2022/23 season was the team captain.
He landed in Davos in the summer and has played 12 games so far with the Grisons, the unintentional victim of a bureaucratic problem following his failure to get permission to take a medicine to treat his diabetes.
Aleksi will reach Cornèr Arena later today.
These are the words of General Manager Hnat Domenichelli:
"Aleksi is an interesting young man who can give us a hand in the offensive department where numerous injuries have reduced the number of players available."
