Hockey Club Lugano reports that it has signed Swedish defender "left" Calle Dahlström on a contract valid for the next two seasons (2024/2026).
Born 01/28/1995 in Stockholm, Dahlström trained in the youth sector of Djurgardens, making his 18-year-old debut in the Swedish top league (SHL) with Linköping.
Drafted in the second round in 2013 by the Chicago Blackhawks, he spent seven years in North America, playing 67 games in the NHL (Chicago Blackhaws, Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs) and 261 games (84 points) in the AHL, where he wore the jerseys of the Rockford Ice Hogs, Henderson Silver Knights and Toronto Marlies. In the last championship he returned to his homeland to defend the colors of Färjestad BK.
Appreciated as a player with a good reading of the game and good skills in passing the puck, his profile is that of a solid defender on the defensive end, due in part to his physical size (193 cm x 96 kg).
At the same time, the HCL announces that it has reached an agreement with defenseman Joey LaLeggia for the consensual termination on April 30, 2024 of his contract valid until the end of the 2024/25 season. The 31-year-old Canadian played thirty-nine Regular Season games with the jersey bianconera with a haul of nine goals and seventeen assists. The HCL thanks Joey for the seriousness and professionalism he has always shown and wishes him the best satisfaction in his future.
These are the words of General Manager Hnat Domenichelli:
"Calle is a defensive defender who will play an important role in our team particularly in the defensive zone and penalty killing. In this context, I want to thank Joey for his commitment during his time in Lugano and to wish him all the best for his future."
