Hockey Club Lugano is a sports association under Art. 60 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code. It incorporates the identity and tradition of the club. It owns the Hockey Club Lugano brand and is the main shareholder of Hockey Club Lugano SA, the joint-stock company that manages the activities of the first team and the Junior Elite team.
For its part, Hockey Club Lugano directly manages the Sezione Giovanile and the amateur part of the club. Its role is primarily planning and long-term strategic development.
Hockey Club Lugano SA is a joint-stock company under Art. 620 ff. of the Swiss Code of Obligations. Initially established with a share capital of CHF 600,000 contributed by thirty founding shareholders, it currently has a share capital of CHF 6,164,800 after opening up to public shareholding.
Considering the sports sector (first team players + young players with training contracts), technical, medical, and locker room staff, administrative and marketing personnel, the Sezione Giovanile, and the catering sector within the Cornèr Arena, the Hockey Club Lugano organization now professionally employs about ninety people.
Alongside them, a host of volunteers and semi-volunteers support the Club in organizing games and events. Examples include security and logistics, on-ice entertainment, the official game table, non-professional Sezione Giovanile coaches, the Casetta Gialla, and the Lugano Hockey magazine.
