Before Luca Gianinazzi, five other Ticinese coaches had the honor of leading the Bianconeri first team's bench in the history of Hockey Club Lugano.

The trio of Renzo Alberti, Antonio Bariffi, and Antonio Casanova led the team for two (winning) games in the 1962/63 Prima Lega season. Giuseppe Faoro was the head coach of HCL for six games (3 wins, 3 losses) in the 1968/69 LNB championship. More recently, Ruben Fontana was interim head coach in a derby won 3-1 at the then Resega in January 2009, between John Slettvoll's departure and Hannu Virta's appointment.

In the 1963/1964 Bianconeri team photo, Renzo Alberti, then an executive, and Giuseppe Faoro, then a player, are highlighted.
