Eight HCL players called up to national youth teams

Eight young players from the Hockey Club Lugano’s Youth Academy have been selected to represent their national teams in upcoming international tournaments in February.

For the Swiss U16 team, forwards Alessandro Domenichelli and Moreno Ziegler (both born in 2009) will compete in the Five Nations Tournament in Romanshorn.

Forward Ryan Bizzozero (born in 2008) has been called up to the Swiss U17 team, which will take part in the Five Nations Tournament in Helsinki, Finland. Goaltender Yannis Zambelli and defenseman Niccolò Castiglioni (both 2008) are on standby for the same team.

Defenseman Simone Cavadini and forward Leonardo Domenichelli (both 2006) are standbys for the Swiss U18 team, which will compete in the Five Nations Tournament in Chomutov, Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, Kajus Kazlauskas (born in 2008) has been selected for Lithuania’s U18 team, set to play in Hungary.

Additionally, the players selected for the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival in Bakuriani, Georgia (February 10-17) have been announced. Yannis Zambelli, Ryan Bizzozero, and Niccolò Castiglioni will represent Switzerland, while Ferdinand Humer will wear Austria’s colors.
