The Hockey Club Lugano is set to welcome the ninth member of its Hall of Fame on November 30th at the Cornèr Arena.
After Alfio Molina, Bernard Côté, Bruno Rogger, Silvano Corti, Andy Ton, Fredy Lüthi, Glen Metropolit, and last year's inductee, the iconic John Slettvoll, it's now time to celebrate a cunning, intelligent player with skillful hands.
Joining Lugano in 1998 after making a name for himself in Bern, the forward born in Porrentruy on April 6, 1970, became a scoring machine during his seasons with the black-and-white, contributing to three national titles under the guidance of Jim Koleff (1999), Larry Huras (2003), and the duo Harold Kreis/Ivano Zanatta (2006).
An impressively consistent performer at the highest level, Régis Fuchs was solid on skates, adept at reading the game, and lethal in front of the goal. His empty-net goal on April 5, 1999, that sealed the sweetest and most envied triumph for the black-and-white fans at the Valascia made him immortal in the hearts of Lugano supporters.
Key statistics of Régis Fuchs’ career with HCL:
The Hockey Club Lugano will honor Régis Fuchs on the ice of the Cornèr Arena before the puck drop of the game on Saturday, November 30th, against Fribourg.
Like the other members of the black-and-white Hall of Fame, which over time will honor players, coaches, executives, and figures who have contributed to writing memorable pages in the club's history, the most famous No. 14 in the club’s history will be celebrated with a video on the central cube and the presentation of a plaque, a ring, and a personalized jersey by President Vicky Mantegazza.
