Hockey Club Lugano is pleased to announce the signing of Finnish defenseman with Swiss license Jesper Peltonen (178 cm x 81 kg) on a two-year contract for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons.
Jesper was born on June 8, 1998, in Helsinki, and, like his twin brother Aleksi, took his first steps as a player with HCL during the years when his father, Ville, wore the Bianconeri jersey, captaining the team to its seventh national title in 2006.
After developing in the youth system of IFK Helsinki, he embarked on a North American adventure, playing four seasons in the top U.S. collegiate league with the University of Wisconsin.
In the current National League season, he ranks third among defensemen with the most ice time (about 18 minutes per game) for Kloten, and first in ice time during penalty kills.
These are the words of General Manager Hnat Domenichelli: "Jesper Peltonen is a young defenseman with excellent skating, a strong sense of defensive play, a solid work ethic, and good growth potential."
