Hockey Club Lugano announces the signing of Canadian "right" defenseman Justin Schultz until the end of the 2024/25 season. Born in Kelowna (British Columbia) on July 6, 1990, Schultz (188 cm x 88 kg) was drafted 43rd overall in 2008 by the Anaheim Ducks. He distinguished himself in the NCAA between 2009 and 2012 with the University of Wisconsin (121 games, 113 points).
From 2012 to 2024, Schultz played 12 consecutive seasons in the NHL, totaling 826 games with an impressive 365 points (81 goals, 284 assists). He wore the jerseys of prestigious teams like the Edmonton Oilers and Pittsburgh Penguins, winning two consecutive Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017, as well as the Washington Capitals.
In the last two seasons, Schultz played 157 games for the Seattle Kraken, scoring 70 points. He will arrive in Ticino as soon as the work permit procedures are completed.
