He arrived last autumn like a breath of fresh air and a beacon of hope in a dark and gloomy atmosphere. Marco Zanetti, who joined Cornèr Arena from Chiasso at the age of 13, was the true revelation of the recently concluded Bianconeri season, and he has now committed to Hockey Club Lugano until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 21-year-old Swiss-licensed forward, born on March 12, 2002, in Malnate, has signed a three-year professional contract, replacing and extending his current development contract.
After three seasons in Mini Top, another three in Novizi Elit, and 152 games in U20 Elit (103 points) with the Bianconeri youth sector (winning two silver medals and one bronze in the category championship), Zanetti made his first-team debut on October 1, 2022.
From that moment, in a challenging context but with the trust always placed in him by Luca Gianinazzi's staff, the tireless No. 11 forward (173 cm, 74 kg, "left") earned his spot as a regular, rotating in every offensive line for Lugano, where his speed, technique, and courage have always made a positive impact.
In his first National League season (55 appearances), Marco scored 7 goals and provided 11 assists, winning everyone's admiration for his initiative and generosity.
Now, his commitment is confirmed with a long-term agreement, and the entire Bianconeri family hopes that Marco Zanetti, with considerable growth potential, can play an important role in Lugano's future.
