Hockey Club Lugano provides an update on the rehabilitation and return to competition of currently injured players.

Joren Van Pottelberghe has undergone surgery to reduce and stabilize fractures in his foot and ankle, and he has started rehabilitation with the HCL medical team. His recovery period before returning to competition is estimated at around four months.

Giovanni Morini continues his rehabilitation following surgery for a femur fracture. In recent weeks, he has resumed individual on-ice training. In approximately six weeks, he will undergo a new specialist examination to determine if he can rejoin team training.

Calvin Thürkauf has made significant progress and will begin individual on-ice training in the coming days. In about three weeks, he will undergo further instrumental checks to finalize his reintegration plan with the team.

Santeri Alatalo, who has dealt with muscle issues in recent weeks, will be available after the international break.

Given the situation, particularly the long-term absence of Van Pottelberghe and Morini’s indefinite absence, HCL has signed a contract with goalkeeper Dominic Nyffeler (born 1992) valid until 31.01.2025. Nyffeler played in the third period of the last game against Kloten. Additionally, Liekit Reichle has signed an "Entry Level" contract until 30.04.2026. The 21-year-old forward, previously on loan from Biel, will be available for both the first team and the U20 Elite coaching staff.
