Hockey Club Lugano announces the signing of Czech forward "left" Jiri Sekac (189 cm x 91 kg) with a contract valid for the next two seasons (2024/2026).

Born on 10.06.1992 in Kladno (the hometown of Jaromir Jagr), Sekac trained in the youth sector of the local team. After his first three professional seasons in his homeland (Lev Poprad, Lev Prague, Sparta Prague), he spent two seasons in North America between 2014 and 2016 with a total of 115 NHL appearances for Montreal, Anaheim, Chicago, and Arizona.

Between 2016 and 2021, he was a prominent player in the KHL, a prestigious stage where he wore the jerseys of AK Bars Kazan, CSKA Moscow, and Avangard Omsk, winning two national titles (2018, 2021) and recording 409 games, 101 goals, and 134 assists.

From 2021 to 2024, he was one of the strengths of Lausanne. Holder of the best +/- statistic in the National League in the 2021/22 regular season (+25) and author of 11 points (6 goals, 5 assists) in the 19 games that marked the run of the Vaudois to game 7 of this year's playoff final, Sekac has so far totaled 163 games, 52 goals, and 68 assists in the National League.

These are the words of General Manager Hnat Domenichelli:

"Jiri is a forward capable of playing well in both the defensive and offensive phases. He is a strong player athletically. His technical and physical characteristics match the forward profile we need, and we are very pleased to have him with us for the next seasons."
