After securing goaltender Joren Van Pottelberghe and defenseman David Aebischer for the upcoming seasons, renewing Michael Joly and Matthew Verboon, and signing the first professional contract with Roberts Cjunskis, Hockey Club Lugano has cemented another piece of the puzzle for its future team.
The black-and-white club and defenseman Samuel Guerra (born 1993) have signed a new three-year contract.
Three-time Swiss champion (2011 and 2015 with Davos, 2018 with the ZSC Lions), who joined the Cornèr Arena in the 2021/22 season, the solid defenseman number 28 will thus wear the black-and-white jersey at least until 2027.
Guerra has played 684 games in the National League (18 goals, 94 assists), showcasing his qualities, including physical play, calmness, and composure. "Sam" has also excellently integrated into the black-and-white environment and the technical staff's playing system.
These are the words of HCL General Manager Hnat Domenichelli:
"Sam is an experienced defenseman whose leadership and professionalism on and off the ice will be important in the future as an example for our many young players on the team."
