TheHockey Club Lugano and 25-year-old Swiss-licensed defender Jesper Peltonen have in recent days signed a contract renewal expiring in 2025, extending the agreement as of now until the end of the 2027/28 season.
After growing up in the youth sector of IFK Helsinki, Jesper had embraced the North American adventure, playing four seasons in the top U.S. college league (NCAA) under the colors of the University of Wisconsin.
After a first professional season in Switzerland with Kloten, Peltonen came to Cornèr Arena last summer.
In these first six months with the jersey bianconera, he has fully confirmed his talents as a defender with excellent skating, a strong work ethic and good growth potential, so much so that he has been deployed by the coaching staff for nearly 18 average minutes per game with a current +/- statistic of +11, the fifth best on the team.
These are the words of HCL General Manager Hnat Domenichelli:
"Jesper is one of our best players in the defensive phase. He has leadership qualities and will be an important element in our future. We are happy to have quickly found a solution with him to extend his contract for the long term."
