After the signings for the coming seasons of goalkeeper Joren Van Pottelberghe and defender David Aebischer, after the renewals of Michael Joly and Matthew Verboon and the signing of Roberts Cjunskis' first professional contract,Hockey Club Lugano has cemented another piece of the puzzle of its team of the future.
The company bianconera and defender Samuel Guerra (class of 1993) have in fact signed a new three-year contract.
A three-time Swiss champion (2011 and 2015 with Davos, 2018 with ZSC Lions) who landed at Cornèr Arena in the 2021/22 season, the solid defender number 28 will therefore wear the bianconera jersey until at least 2027.
Guerra has played 684 games at National League (18 goals, 94 assists), which have highlighted his qualities, most notably his physical play, calmness and lucidity. "Sam" has also integrated excellently into the environment bianconero and into the game system of the technical staff.
These are the words of HCL General Manager Hnat Domenichelli:
"Sam is an experienced defenseman whose leadership and professionalism on and off the ice will be important in the future as an example for our many young people on the team."
